6. Tag Along!

So, now having a play with tagging websites of interest in Del.icio.us. (makes me think of the food magazine!). Starting out with quilting sites - tagging those offering free quilting patterns. This is one quilt I have made but using different fabrics. Good to be able to tag the different sites by subject so that they are easily identified. Access this site http://del.icio.us/ to set up an account, search for sites of interest and tag them with subject headings so they are easily located. I am also looking for good book sites to include starting with children's books, mystery/crime writing and favourite authors like Peter Robinson. It was fun to see how doing a search by mystery books I was able to click on the tag "mystery" on one of the sites listed and it gave my entry "by tillylilly" as one of the many results at the top of the page - very exciting!
Had a play with Technorati (http://www.technorati.com/) searching for 'Learning 2.0' under entire posts and tags only, and different authority (other people's thoughts on the sites listed) to see how the results differ. With the search results also able to click on the link for blogs, videos and photos (takes you into flickr) on the subject. Very versatile! Just from what I have seen Technorati certainly looks like an enormous site. I have decided not to have my blog listed on the site.

5. Lazing Around

Hardly, probably exhausted from playing with all this new technology! Having a go at different things in play week, especially fun with the online image generator. Also learning about editing what I have done so far. Have set up a LibraryThing catalogue with some of my favourite books through http://www.librarything.com/ . With the online generator have tried a few different play toys including painting a picture of a cat with the mouse, able to choose the colours, frame and have in mounted in a gallery amongst other paintings. My painting looked like something I would have done in kindergarten! Unfortunately, only able to print a copy for myself as the site would not allow me to make my work of art available for all to see. I have created the 'Birman Heaven' poster at the top of this post - able to choose style and colours.

4. What's the latest news?

I have now set up my RSS newsreader account so should be kept informed of lots of information on my interests. Some I have chosen were suggested popular interests but I also searched for interesting quilting feeds and selected one in particular from the Netherlands that looks really good.

3. Flickerings

This week I have had fun finding images of places I have travelled to around the world so I can have a pictorial record of countries and places I have been to.

2. Paw Prints

Stepping into the unknown world of blogging and new technology is certainly a good learning experience. This is totally new to me so if nothing else I will be learning what all this terminology means. So much easier to understand when you are putting it to practical use. Here goes!
